The newest mascot for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education (MSTTE) is a loveable little creature named Twitch. Twitch is the face of MSTTE on online social media and at present, it can be found on the social networks Facebook and Twitter.

As the awareness and participation in online social networking continues to rise in Trinidad and Tobago, MSTTE sees online marketing platforms as the next logical step in promoting tertiary education and lifelong learning. Ultimately, the goal is to generate a cadre of qualified, skilled, marketable and civic-minded citizens who can preserve our democracy, transform our socio-economic environment and modernize our society.

In keeping with his nickname, Twitch will be a chameleon of sorts, appearing in Santa hats, sporting deyas and other props as the seasons change. Facebook and Twitter enthusiasts can look forward to information about the Ministry’s On-the-job Training (OJT) programme, its Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) programme and its Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) as well as information about other ministry related programmes and agencies. Several exclusive competitions are also in the works. Those who are fans of MSTTE on Facebook and who follow on Twitter will be eligible for giveaways.

Anyone interested can become a fan of MSTTE on Facebook and “follow” MSTTE_tt on Twitter.
